Piedmont Geriatric Hospital, a TJC accredited geriatric-psychiatric 123-bed hospital, is seeking either a resident in clinical psychology or licensed clinical psychologist for 40 hours per week to provide comprehensive psychological assessments and psychotherapeutic services, and consultation and leadership to other disciplines. The clinician will also serve a leadership role within an interdisciplinary treatment team setting. The successful applicant will have considerable knowledge of principles and methods of psychological service delivery including psychological assessments, diagnostic evaluations, psychotherapy, behavioral programming and treatment modalities as well as a demonstrated ability to conduct psychotherapy in the treatment of patients with emotional/behavioral dysfunctions. The candidate will additionally demonstrate the ability to develop and administer psychological treatment in conjunction with the ability to communicate with other disciplines, patients, families and outside agencies.
Considerable professional level clinical experience with at least some autonomous functioning in a mental health setting with a broad program of psychological treatment and interdisciplinary functioning is a must. A doctoral degree from a regionally accredited university or school of psychology is necessary (including dissertation completion); applicants must also have completed (or will complete prior to date of hire) an APPIC-listed internship program. Experience with the severely mentally ill, geriatric, and/or forensic patient population is strongly preferred, but not necessary. Experience providing clinical supervision is preferred, but not mandatory. If unlicensed, the applicant must successfully earn licensure in clinical psychology within 12 months of hire.
## Minimum Qualifications
A doctoral degree from a regionally accredited university or school of psychology is required.
Training and experience with adult mentally ill populations.
Familiarity with a variety of treatment modalities.
Familiarity with neuropsychological, personality, and emotional assessment techniques.
The applicant must have a license to practice independently in Virginia or be license eligible and prepared to take the licensure exam within 12 months of hire.
## Preferred Qualifications
Licensed psychologist in Virginia.
Training and experience with severely mentally ill and/or geriatric and/or forensic populations.
Strong experience in behavioral treatment.
Training and experience with geriatric-specific instruments.
